The road, which takes you to the Val di Fosse valley from the Val Senales valley, is very steep. At Casera di Fuori (Vorderkaser) you have to park your car, from there you can continue by foot. A didactic path with many interesting stations tells you more about the history and the characteristics of the area. This path is part of the Merano High Route. If you are lucky you will see some golden eagle, ibex or chamois. In any case the amazing views will be worth the efforts.
From the 13th to the 19th century the Eishof (2071m) was one of the highest permanent settlements in the Alpine region. Nowadays the huts in the valley are open from May to November. Both hikers and mountain bikers will enjoy the crossing into the Val Passiria valley (Passeiertal) passing the Rifugio Petrarca (Stettiner Hütte) at 2875 m and the Passo Gelato (Eisjöchl).
The Val di Fosse valley is a great place for nature lovers and hikers alike.
