Located at 2,011 m a.s.l., Maso Corto is probably the most ancient village of the Val Senales

Maso Corto is located at the head of the Val Senales valley - directly from the village, the Val Senales Glacier cable way transports skiers and snowboarders from autumn to May into the Alpin Arena Senales skiing area. Already in the 1950s, Maso Corto used to be a popular destination for skiing pioneers, while in the '70s the village has bit by bit become a winter sports destination, equipped with the appropriate facilities. Only the chapel at the entrance of the village as well as the Kurzhof farm have been preserved from these days.
Located at the head of the valley, Maso Corto is an ideal starting point for several hikes and mountain tours on the surrounding mountains of 3,000 metres. From Maso Corto you can also make cross-border hikes, such as the 7-hours tour to Vent in North Tyrol. As far as promenading is concerned, we particularly recommend a walk to Lake Vernago. However, the Olympic swimming pool in Maso Corto with sauna, Turkish bath and whirlpool invites to relax.
A highlight is the transhumance of the sheep in spring and autumn, when thousands of sheep walk to the Alpine pastures in the Austrian Oetztal valley where they spend the summer. They come back in September, and on this occasion the sheep and shepherds are warmly welcomed with a great celebration.
