The Val Senales extends in altitudes between 1,245 m and 2,001 m a.s.l. and is famous beyond borders. The municipality of Senales comprises the villages of Monte Santa Caterina, Certosa, Madonna di Senales, Vernago al Lago, Maso Corto and the idyllic Val di Fosse in the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park.
Maso Corto, located at 2,000 m a.s.l., is probably the most famous locality of the valley, as it is the seat of the Alpin Arena Senales, the glacier skiing area, open from autumn to May. Vernago al Lago boasts an artificial lake, Lake Vernago, that confers a special atmosphere to the village and is also starting point for the hike to the place of discovery of Oetzi, the Iceman.
Madonna di Senales is characterised by a lovely pilgrimage church and is site of the ArcheoParc, an adventure museum dedicated to the life in the period of Oetzi the Iceman. Certosa, however, is the site of an old Carthusian monastery, which can still be visited today and is also venue for different art exhibitions in summer.
