The idyllic Valclava is located about 14 km from the town of Merano in the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park. It does not only include the hamlets of the homonymous high valley, but also groups of farms of the neighbouring Riederberg. With its approx. 320 inhabitants, Valclava is the largest village that belongs to San Martino, both in terms of surface area and number of inhabitants.
Surrounded by meadows and forests, the Valclava river emptying into the Passirio, in the midst the Faglsalm and Falseralm pastures as well as some taverns that are known beyond this area, thanks to its magnificent scenery, Valclava is above all popular with hikers and excursionists. The most famous route stretching across this valley at the foot of the Clava is undoubtedly the Alta Via Meranese.
