Boasting a total of some 400 inhabitants, Verdins is located at 842 m a.s.l., about 3 km above Scena and at the valley entrance of Val Passiria. Starting from Merano you can reach the village via a bus. Verdins, an oasis of calm and relaxation, offers a pretty centre with new buildings, restaurants, shops and an impressive, rather modern parish church.

The construction of this church started in the 70s of the 20th century at the south side of the ancient church. Today the church, built in a rather modern style, is not only characterised by its outer appearance, but also boasts an altar adorned by an illustration of the Last Supper as well as beautiful glass paintings.

Passing by this church, promenaders reach the Roggia di Verdins, stretching northbound to the Waalerhuette mountain hut. However, this is only one of the possibilities for hikes in the surroundings of Verdins and in the hiking area that surrounds Scena. If you would like to spare metres in altitude, take the Verdins funicular, transporting you to 1,438 m a.s.l. From this place you can reach the mountain village of Videgg, the alpine pasture of Stefall or the Rifugio Cervina in the homonymous hiking area.
