About 8 km south of Merano, there is the municipality of Postal. This sun-drenched village is located at 270 m a.s.l. along the Adige river and only a stone's throw from Lana. Its name derives from a castle, of which only remnants of a circular wall are left today.
Postal is located at the foot of the Monzoccolo mountain, which in the evening often seems to be painted in red. The high altitude plateau of the Monzoccolo, which by the way is a hiking area without equal, is ideal for fleeing from the summery temperatures in the valley.
In spring and autumn, however, we recommend you a hike down in the valley. A 2,5 km long keep-fit-trail with several stations and instructions for exercises, the Graf Volkmar Trail across the broad-leaf forest above the village are able to satisfy all the hiker's needs. Those who prefer cycling can make a tour on the Val d'Adige cycle path, for example to the city of Bolzano.
