Nalles is considered to be the gate to the South Tyrolean Wine Road and fits into a cultural landscape of orchards and vineyards
The municipality of Nalles has got some 1,800 inhabitants and extends between 320 and 1,000 m a.s.l. Located between Merano e Bolzano on the one hand and valley bottom and mountain on the other side, Nalles nestles in a cultural landscape of orchards and vineyards, as it is also the northernmost village belonging to the South Tyrolean Wine Road. Schwanburg Castle, which once housed the oldest private winery in South Tyrol, is also located here.
Nalles benefits from the mild climate of the basin of Merano, that favourites not only the cultivation of vines, but also of roses: in fact in the “village of roses“ these royal flowers are cultivated as far as the eye can see.
Nalles is also very popular with passionate hikers and mountain bikers, coming to the village not only on the occasion of an MTB race in spring. Other events casting a spell over its visitors are the antique car race, the Horse Riding Festival in early summer as well as the village festival taking place every two years. A lasting experience is Nalles above all, but not only, in the period of the apple blossom in spring.
