High above the valley floor, at 1,360 m a.s.l., the hamlet Riolagundo extends in the midst of lushly green alpine meadows. Accessible either via a 12 km long mountain road or the Rablá/Saring - Riolagundo funicular (renewed in 2013), the hamlet offers ideal conditions for people looking for rest and relaxation, far away from hustle and bustle. The main sights of Riolagundo are the Our Lady of the Snows church of 1695 as well as the Sacred Heart church dating back to 1886.
Riolagundo is an ideal starting point for hikes, e.g. to the Monte S. Vigilio via the Bischofskofel mountain, to the alpine pastures of Naturno and the "Siebenbrunner Wald" (Fountain Forest) back to Riolagundo. Also the black hill moor lake "Schwarze Lacke“ can be reached on foot from the village, the path to this natural sight from time to time reveals views on the Val d'Adige. Also Plaus and Saring can by the way be reached on foot. However, the most popular event of Riolagundo is the mountain jog competition from Lagundo village to the mountain hamlet.
