Surrounded by vineyards and orchards, Cermes is located in the Val d’Adige at an altitude of 290 m a.s.l
The little village of Cermes with its 1,500 inhabitants nestles in the heart of orchards and vineyards in a hardly noticeable position between Marlengo and Lana. Away from the town and anyway, very near, that's how the location of Cermes, about 6 km in the south of Merano, could be described best.
Above the village, there is Monteleone Castle (Lebenberg in German), a castle that dates back to the 13th century, when it was constructed by the Lords of Marlengo. Also the Kränzel Winery in Via Palade deserves a visit. At this mighty Mediaeval residence, there is a gorgeous labyrinth garden that is open from April to November. The parish church of Cermes is consecrated to St Sebastian. Worth a visit is also the little St Anna chapel, dating back to the 17th century.
The Cermes and the Marlengo Waalweg paths offer scenic hiking opportunities, furthermore Cermes is located at the beginning of the road to Passo Palade, taking you to the hiking areas of Monte Luco and the Val d'Ultimo. Particularly popular is this road also with motor cyclists heading to the neighbouring Trentino.
