The Falzeben holiday area is located below Merano 2000. The large parking space is easy to reach by car or bus, then the lifts take you up to the timber line.

If you walk from the mountain station towards the Monte Catino (Mittager), you will pass the Meraner Hütte mountain hut.

A bit more difficult is the stony path up to the summit of the Picco Ivigna, which also offers a fantastic view.

Via the Forcella Ivigna ridge you reach the Rif. Ivigna mountain hut (in the picture), which is located above Scena. Falzeben and Merano 2000 of course offer countless other hiking and excursion possibilities at various altitudes and levels of difficulty.

Falzeben extends at an altitude of about 1,600 m a.s.l., high above Avelengo. This village is above all known as the valley station of the Falzeben Cable Car with its yellow gondolas taking hikers in summer and skiers in winter to the fabulous area of Merano 2000. Moreover Merano 2000 is a superlative cycling area, offering trails in every level of difficulty. By the way: Merano 2000 is also considered the recreation area of the inhabitants of Merano. Those who are interested in minerals can take a look at the mineral exhibition near the valley station.

Starting point for hikes is, however, also the parking lot (subject to charges) Falzeben, from where you can e.g. reach the Moschwald alpine pasture, the Rifugio Valcanova, the Waidmann pasture and the Kirchsteiger alpine pasture. Also a stage of the European long-distance hiking trail E5 runs here. To those, however, who want to climb higher, we recommend a mountain tour to the Monte Ivigna.

An absolute must-do: a ride with the summer toboggan run Alpin Bob Merano 2000, the longest one of Italy. A real adventure, not only for kids.
