Grünboden is the name of a mountain hut in the skiing area above Plan at the end of the beautiful Val Passiria valley. Well-known as a hiking destination in summer and for its pistes in winter, the Grünboden Alm mountain hut for us is destination of a winter hike and starting point of an unforgettable sledge ride. If you want to save the ascent on foot, the modern cable car of Plan takes you up to the summit, where the hut is located, in a few minutes.
Our winter hike starts at the parking space of the Plan Cable Car, where we follow path no. 6 for about one kilometre, then we take path no. 8 (towards Lazins). We turn to the left and follow the forest road, which proceeds straight to the Grünboden Alm mountain hut. Below the hut, the sledge run starts, which we use to come back into the valley again. Have fun!
