The Monte San Vigilio mountain above Lana is a small and untouched hiking paradise at 1,700 m a.s.l

In Lana we take the funicular up to the mountain station at 1,490 m a.s.l. Next to the hotel “Vigilius Mountain Resort” we follow the marker no. 34 up to the Monte Vigilio (Vigiljoch). In dizzy height the chair lift accompanies us on this first section.
Arrived on the top of the Monte Vigilio we find a very special atmosphere due to the cloudy sky, the small church and its background appear in a surreal way. The entire area up here is car-free, so we can really enjoy nature. The coniferous forests and the flower meadows radiate nativeness.
On the Monte Vigilio we take now the path no. 9 towards Laghetto Nero, which is a lake with a wide reed belt where we have a rest (there is also a guest house to stop). For our way back to the funicular station we take the path no. 7 from here.
Notice: This walking tour is a bit steep and partly rocky but we were rewarded with gorgeous panoramic views on the Val d'Adige and the Merano basin – even though the sky was not that blue today.
