This late autumn walk, a circular tour, proceeds on the beautiful Salto High Plateau between the villages of Verano and Meltina

Also in late November the highlands beneath the summits of the Sarentino Alps (1,000 - 1,300 m a.s.l.) offer some beautiful hiking possibilities. The mountain station of the Postal-Verano Cable Car a few metres away from the village centre of Verano (Vöran) is our starting point. At the church we follow the path no. 13 slightly downhill through the autumnal landscape characterised by meadows and mixed forests.
Arrived at the Bacherhof farm we choose the "V" path towards Salonetto (Schlaneid). Through meadows and forests and past a biotope we reach this mountain hamlet belonging to the municipality of Meltina. The small St. Valentine Church with its wooden steeple is located here. The "U" path proceeds constantly uphill to St. UIrich at 1,350 m a.s.l.
St. Ulrich is the name of an old farmstead located on the eponymous hill near the small St. Ulrich Church. The tavern invites to stop for coffee and delicious home-made cake before we turn back to Verano. On the way back we follow the Meltina-Vilpiano road to a bend where the path no. 13 branches off on the left towards the Langwieshof farm. At the Bacherhof farm we meet the junction of the ascent and turn back to Verano, our starting point.
Please note: This walk on the Salto High Plateau is beautiful during all seasons of the year. The trail is easy and mostly flat, but with 12 km quite long, the single sections are partly asphalted and partly gravelled. The ascent to St. Ulrich and the way back follow some forest paths.
