The Waalweg path in Rifiano at 650 m a.s.l. above the Val Passiria leads along the edge of the forest

From the centre of Rifiano at 500 m a.s.l., we walk up the Hohlgasse road, leading across the apple orchards. We follow the "Waalweg" signpost up to 600 m a.s.l., where the Rifiano Waalweg path stretches. We walk towards north, at the edge of the vineyards and fruit orchards. The great view of Rifiano, along the foot of the Monte Scena, and opposite the Val Passiria with the villages of Verdines and Scena, is unforgettable. Then we proceed across the broadleaf forest.
When we come upon the trail no. 5 (to Rifiano), we walk down to the village and reach the beautiful Our Lady of Sorrows pilgrimage church, built in Baroque construction style. This style is best reflected by the steeple and the altar in the interior. On the "Kirchweg" trail with its stations of the cross that were installed about 50 years ago, we walk back to our starting point.
Please note: as the irrigation channel runs through pipes, the water is not visible along the path.
