The Glieshöfe farms in the Val di Mazia valley can be reached from Mazia via a comfortable Waalweg path. This hike is particularly recommended in early summer

Here you can discover the originality of the Val di Mazia valley. Mazia is a mountain village, which belongs to the municipality of Malles in the Val Venosta valley and starting point of this hike. In the village centre we follow the signpost to the Ackerwaal (no. 11). After a short ascent we reach the level of the irrigation channel which soon accompanies us quietly burbling. The path runs at the western slope above the valley towards north. Now, in early summer, a rich variety of flowers blooms on the meadows crossed by the Waalweg path.
Without any major ascents we reach the origin of the channel after approx. 6 km, cross the road and the Saldurbach brook and follow the signpost to the Glieshöfe farms, which are already in sight. At the chapel of the Almhotel Glieshof (rest point) our hike ends after about 2 hours. For our way back we take the same route. This hike is particularly recommended from the end of May to mid-June.
