The Valser Valley - also Falser Valley - is located above Valclava where the Tessa Group extends in the Val Passiria valley. Here we enjoy a marvellous and varied circular hike through isolated forests and alpine meadows

The starting point of our circular tour is the car park Rappenhöfe above Magdfeld, which can be reached via a mountain road that branches off from the Val Passiria road at the district of Valclava (Kalmtal) south of San Martino (St. Martin). Right at the Rappenhöfe, we take the path no. 4A on the left. It leads steeply uphill through the forest. We are now at the beginning of the Tessa Group Nature Park. After about 90 minutes we reach the timberline where the first alpine meadows extend. At almost 2,000 m a.s.l. we find the rustic Malga Faglsalm, where we take a rest and enjoy traditional food.
From here we only have to cover a rise of 150 m to reach an enchanting mountain lake surrounded by high pastures where bovines, horses and even a few llamas graze. Finally we have reached the highest places of our hike and now we continue on the high route no. 4 and 5 that lead towards the inner valley. At the end of the valley, the path descends slightly to the Malga Falser, also known as Malga Valser, which is open in summer.
On our way back we take the easy alpine path no. 4A, which takes us from the alpine meadows back to the forest and to the Rappenhöfe. During this tour you can admire the varied landscape of the Tessa Group Natural Park without haste while covering more than 800 m of altitude during a five hours hike.
