The mild climate of Merano and surroundings does not only have a beneficial impact on humans, but also on the grapevines
The quality of South Tyrolean wines does not have to be emphasised, the best way to appreciate the benefits of this wine is simply to have a glass of Schiava, Lagrein, Sylvaner or Riesling. A visit to a winery or a guided tour of a vineyard with interesting information about the cultivation of grapevines and the productions of wines in Merano and surroundings, as well as a degustation of noble white and red wines are absolute must-dos in your holidays.
Also some events in and around Merano set the focus on wine and related topics. In autumn e.g. there is the "Gourmet Herbst", a gourmet festival offering wine tastings, haute cuisine, visits to vineyards and more. Another platform for wine connoisseurs is the "Merano WineFestival & Culinaria" in the spa town, an event in the frame of which various initiatives take place.
"Vino Culti" in Tirolo village, however, offers wine tastings of the best Pinot Bianco, wine lectures and also the awarding of prizes to the best sweet wines of South Tyrol. And "Ars et Vinum" takes place in Lagundo, which in the days of the festival transforms into a huge stage for artists from all over. Moreover, the new vintage is presented, combined with South Tyrolean delicacies and pieces of art.
