The grape must and the new wine are essential elements at the Törggelen. Usually tasting the new wine was the reason for a big feast after the harvest.
The grape must, called "Suser" in South Tyrol, is the new wine at the beginning of the vinification. Only 1% alcohol may be contained in this still sweet must. The so-called "Nuier" comes from the next stage of the vinification. This beverage already tastes of wine. In South Tyrol the new wine mostly comes from the red Vernatsch grapes. Both drinks are served with sweet chestnuts at the Törggelen. A real taste adventure!
