Long time ago, every year after wine pressing in autumn, the farmers in South Tyrol invited their workers to taste the new wine and to eat some typical savoury dishes like dumplings, cabbage, home-made sausages, bacon and cheese as well as typical sweets. In the end, roasted chestnuts with butter where served together with the new grape must, the "Suser".
