The library completes the theatre programme with 18,000 volumes regarding various topics
How did actors learn in the beginnings of the theatre? The library of the Merano Municipal Theatre in the Kurhaus provides information, offering scrolls which are hand-written or type-written, with texts for actors from the period between 1900 and 1930. Moreover the library boasts a large number of libretti, piano scores, documents for soloists and orchestras, costume and copy books, posters, magazines and photographs. There is also secondary literature.
The main part of the documents consists of German scriptures. However, in the last years more and more Italian, English and French documents complete the composition. The author Renate Abram published a book on the Municipal Theatre of Merano, "Das Kurhaus Meran. Ein Blick in die Geschichte der Kurstadt Meran" (A view into the history of the spa town of Merano). It is available in well-assorted book stores.
