Built by archduke Sigismund of Austria right behind the local townhall, the small but mighty castle actually dates back to the 15th century.
Worth seeing in the Prince’s Castle Museum are the chapel with a fascinating 16th century fresco, the historical arms and a collection of historical instruments as well as antique furniture, kitchen utensils and portraits. Those interested in medieval history and culture have come to the right place!

Reservation by phone required for groups. The Prince's Castle Merano stays open every year from Easter to early January, Monday rest day. Season start 2025 in mid-April.
